Menopause & Midlife Health
Symptoms, options and risks, set out plainly
Menopause and the years around it can bring hot flushes, poor sleep, low mood, changes in bleeding and in bone health, and a good deal of confusion about what to do. The appointment starts with what you are actually experiencing and what matters most to you. Options, including hormone therapy and treatments that do not use hormones, are explained with their benefits and risks, so that you can decide with proper information. Unusual or heavy bleeding around this time is looked into rather than assumed to be menopause, because it should not be missed.
- Time to talk about symptoms that are easy to dismiss
- Hormonal and non-hormonal options explained, with the risks
- Bone, heart and general health checks in the same visit
- Unusual bleeding looked into, not assumed

Common questions
- Is hormone therapy safe?
- It suits some women and not others, and the risks depend on your age, history and the type used. The consultation sets out the benefits and risks for you specifically.
- I am still bleeding irregularly. Is that normal?
- Changes are common around menopause, but heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods, or any bleeding after menopause should be checked rather than put down to age.
- Will I need any tests?
- Sometimes. Tests are done when the result would change what we do, and often the picture is clear from your symptoms and history alone.
